In 2023, the world of information consumption was dominated by short-form content. We’re constantly bombarded with bite-sized pieces of information from websites news, short / long videos, blog posts, social media, slide decks, even industrial research reports and PDFs. Podcasts have also become a popular way for me to consume information while jogging.

This constant influx of quick hits has undoubtedly impacted my reading habit, making it a slower year for in-depth, long-form reading, particularly of ebooks.

Anyway, here are the books (in purchasing order) of 2023:

• Blockchain Beyond Basics: With an AI perspective to Blockchain – A solid technical book in simple English.
• Tracers in the Dark: The Global Hunt for the Crime Lords of Cryptocurrency – An answer to the question … how to track down crypto criminals ?
• This is How They Tell Me The World Ends – A book about zero-day attack risk, but wrote like a thriller story.
• Awaken Your Genius: Escape Conformity, Ignite Creativity, and Become Extraordinary – I read his previous book “Think Like a Rocket Scientist”, and it’s not a sequel … but equally good though.
• Smart Until It’s Dumb: Why artificial intelligence keeps making epic mistakes (and why the AI bubble will burst) – Is AI really that smart ?
• Mastering Blockchain: A deep dive into distributed ledgers, consensus protocols, smart contracts, DApps, cryptocurrencies, Ethereum, and more – Good for preparing class materials 😎
• The Tiger and the Rabbit: Harnessing the Power of the Metaverse, WEB3, and AI for Business Success – If you want to explain the Metaverse, Web3 and AI with a game plan to your non-tech management.
• The Creative Act: A Way of Being – I need to read it one more time, or maybe more.
• Traffic Secrets: The Underground Playbook for Filling Your Websites and Funnels with Your Dream Customers – A really great book with lots of executable digital marketing tips and tricks.
• The Coming Wave: Technology, Power, and the Twenty-first Century’s Greatest Dilemma – To contain or not to contain, that’s the question.
• Hidden Potential: The Science of Achieving Greater Things – Just in time for a New Year’s resolutions !

And the best book to me this year is … The Coming Wave: Technology, Power, and the Twenty-first Century’s Greatest Dilemma. YMMV.
