Dopod C730 – Two Weeks Later

Since I bought the Dopod C730 two weeks ago, I installed a couple of software – just to make it work like my previous Nokia N80 … But before all that, I first installed a new homescreen / theme to replace the default (i.e. ugly) one. The theme was downloaded from Cuago (see below), but I intended to get some new ones from smartphone.krisdoff.net in near future. Once downloaded, I twisted the default image a bit and that’s why you can see the “M.Y. Phone” there.

Cuago theme

The screen is really gorgeous and bright, isn’t it ? So, what’s next ?

As mentioned, to mimic the N80 I installed a few software and configure something first –

For example, the RSS feeds

RSS feed

Then, the mobile Gmail,

Mobile Gmail

And Sudoku from the freeware site – smartphone-freeware.com šŸ˜Ž

From the same site, I also downloaded the Screen Capture software from Ilium (that’s why you can see all the screen shots here)

But is the Smartphone really good ? I don’t know yet, I still have something to fix:

  • The Worldmate I bought did not work, and still waiting for a newer version,
  • I still don’t understand some status icons on top of the screen (and it’s not covered in any document and websites)
  • Many times, some programs’ keys are covered by the “Start”, “Contacts” buttons in the bottom of the screen.

Lastly, one more gadget – you really need to buy a Bluetooth Stereo Headset with a good headphone … the sound quality is very good.

Dopod C730

I waited for the Samsung SGH-i600 / BlackJack for over 6 months and I don’t think I can wait any longer. First, Dopod introduced the C730 (i.e. the HTC Cavalier) in town with a very attractive price and secondly, unlike the BlackJack, the C730 is pre-installed with the latest WM6.Ā  So … how’s it ?

Here is the picture of the C730 with my previous phone Nokia N80. The theme I installed with the C730 is the Razor-TXW from Cuago Designworks.

C730 and N80

Check out how thin it is …

But one point to note though … the manual and the software come with the device / CD are all in Chinese (?!)

Movie Script Database

The Cable TV replayed the movie Scent of a Womantoday and you know, any Al Pacino fan will love this film. I particular like his lines here …

Did you ever have the feelin’
that you wanted to go
And still had the feelin’
that you wanted to stay

Olympus and Apple

Olympus manufactures cameras (among many other scientific instruments) and Apple manufactures computers, iPods. Although they are in different markets, they have some similarities though – they all have good designed products, small market shares and followed by a group of die-hard fans. In fact, once you tried their cameras and “tasted” their cameras’ colors, you will not try other mainstream cameras like Canon and Nikon.

However, unlike Apple, Olympus is not innovative at all in marketing … so, that’s good to see they are finally spending money in advertising. Here is one from South Korea … with the superstar Boa.
