Our Iceberg Is Melting

No, it is not about the movie An Inconvenient Truth (lower your PC speaker volume before you click the link), but it is a book that talks about Change Management.

It is a very thin book that you can probably finish it in a morning, yet with a very good story / fable (how a coloney of penguins find a new home because their hometown’s iceberg is melting). And yes, the whole idea of the story is about how to manage change in a very solid 8 steps:

  1. Create a sense of urgency to deal with a difficult problem
  2. Put a carefully selected group in charge of guiding the change
  3. Find the sensible vision of a better future
  4. Communicate that vision so others will understand and accept it
  5. Remove as many obstacles to action as is pactical
  6. Create some sort of success quickly
  7. Never let up until the new way of life is firmly established
  8. Ensure that the changes will not be overcome by stubborn, hard-to-die traditions

A very good read and highly recommended !!

Why Your Camera Does Not Matter ?

Finally, someone (actually Ken Rockwell) said it … in eight languages !! I always wonder why people keep chasing new gears when what they actually need is to practise more. Some selections from the article …

  • Your equipment DOES NOT affect the quality of your image.
  • Buying new gear will NOT improve your photography.
  • The camera doesn’t make a bit of difference. All of them can record what you are seeing. But, you have to SEE.

Read this article before you invest $$$ to new gears … again.

10 Years On …

While most people think it is the right time to plan for year 2007, I reckon it is about time to think “what have I done in the last 10 years ?”. So I retrieved back the web site I did for myself 10 years ago (no kidding …). And I found this in the “Revision History”:

Jan’ 97 – This is the third edition of the web site with simplified, but more graphical interface. No more frames, no more Java applets, no more GIF animations, and no more “all-look-the-same” colored left-hand-side menu bar …

Geez … I keep revamping my web site for the last 10 years. And you know, I am not even a web designer …
